Go to the “Setting” then “About phone” and  then check the “Android version”.

For Android version 3.0 or higher:

If your smartphone is running on android Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), Jelly Bean (4.1), Kitkat (4.4) then it will be easier to take screenshot. Just press your phone’s power button and volume down button same time and hold it for 1-2 seconds. It will capture what is displaying on the screen. In some phone (Most of the Samsung smartphones) you have to press power button and home button instead of volume down button. You can hear the noise like shutter of a camera, which means the screenshot has been taken. You can also see a notification at the notification bar where you can easily access the screenshot.
